The topic of the lecture was about content-based approaches and instructed second language acquisition. The balanced curriculum consists of four parts, meaning focused input, meaning focused output, language focused learning, and fluency development. It's ideal that counterbalance between language and content are equal, but there is a different between Canada and Japan. In Canada, there is a strong focus on content, but in Japan, there is a strong focus on language.
