英語教育講義⑮: Lecture7

In today's lecture, we remembered the lecture so far, and discussed the point that we had a question and got a strong impression in group. It was impressive for me that the answering to one question by a student. When I explain my question that what we should do when we didn 't understand well because of language difficulity in immersion education, one student answered that it's important to repeat the content in other ways by theirselves. I agreed with it, and it will make the student understood well.

  The topic of this lecture was about Call me and tell me what's going on. Recently, many teachers have started to use computer as a tutor in English class. Writing blogs is also effective ways to improve English skill. Student can express the book content and their feeling easily. Moreover, they can read and learn from other student's blog. In this lecture, Mrs. Nakano came and told her story. It was impressive for me that the teacher should let the students teach eachother because one teacher has to teach for forty students. I was also surprising that she kept learning about English education in graduate school while working as a teacher. I thought teacher should gain a lot of knowledge before teaching stdents.

 The topic of the lecture was about content-based approaches and instructed second language acquisition. The balanced curriculum consists of four parts, meaning focused input, meaning focused output, language focused learning, and fluency development. It's ideal that counterbalance between language and content are equal, but there is a different between Canada and Japan. In Canada, there is a strong focus on content, but in Japan, there is a strong focus on language.

英語教育講義⑪: Lecture3

 The topic of the lecture was about working memory. Working memory is in the middle of input and long-term memory, and work for entrenching the memory. It divided to entral exective and two components for memorizing named phonologocal loop and visuopatial sketchpad. It's important to repeat what we learned many times so that we improve our long-term memory.

英語教育講義⑫: Lecture4

 The topic of this class was about content-based approaches to languages teaching and learning. Firstly, we learned about two schools that focused on global edication. Sophia university is famous for offering-high-level language education, including a lot of English- medium programs. Linden Hall school tackled with International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Recent developments in immersion education has 3 principles, comprehensible input , structured and extended output, and focus on form, proactive and reactive. I have a quention that what the teacher should do when student misunderstood what the teacher was meant in other foreign llanguages. In this lecture, we can hear the presentation about graduate school by Mr. Ogawa. In the university he learned, the student was asked for being active and thinking by theirselves. I was impressed that he did active-learning about English education in graduate school.

BR ⑪The Canterville Ghost and Other Stories

 I'd like to show you "The Canterville Ghost and Other Stories". In England, there was a old house. It was scared of many local people because a ghost named Simon de Canterville lived for a long time. One day, Mr.Otis, an American family, moved there. Canterville frighten the Otis family in many ways as usuall, but the family were not scared of his work at all. He got angry, and tried various ways, but they didn't pay attention.Only Virginia who is older daughter having warm heart didn't turn away Canterville and listen to his stories. 

I think it's interesting that the ghost who wanted to frighten people and the indifferences of the Otis family. If I lived in the house living ghosts, I would be scared of them and controlled as thier wishes. You will enjoy the converstion between the ghost and Virginia in easy English written by famous writer, Oscar Wild.

BR⑩The Promise

 I'm going to introduce you "The Promise". This is the story about one soccer boy in Brazil. One poor couple had a son named Pedro who they've wanted for a long time.  A old woman said surprising things to the family. 'Your son will grow up and become famous. He will give happiness to many people. He will help poor people.' she said. After that,  Perdo grew up and he became able to play soccer. His talent was great, so he always work well for the team anytimes. After the while, he got the offer from professional soccer team. He also contributes for the team greatly, and gained credit from the loal fan. However, he broke his health beacuse he've leaded not rich life and played soccer well for a long time. The treatment was not easy for him. Around player were active without any change, so perdo felt annoyed and worried about his futuer carrer. As the first part of this story, a old woman said that Perdo will have a strong influences to many people, but will it be a true story? In this story, you can enjoy the expression of ruuning comentary in soccer game. If you have an interest about it, please read it.
